Fostering the Entrepreneurial Spirit

John Rizzo is a publishing consultant and serial entrepreneur.   In his role at BookSurge, part of the Amazon group of companies, he continues to follow his original mission to empower those looking to share their story in the digital age.   As a publishing consultant he teams with authors, entrepreneurs and professionals from all niches to provide resources to accomplish their publishing ventures.  Rizzo is also involved with a start-up venture of his own where he is studying e-commerce and relationship marketing.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the College of Charleston in May 2007, where his main passion was studying and teaching entrepreneurship principles. In 2006 he was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year for his work on a collection of business plans and philanthropic projects at the Tate Center for Entrepreneurship.

In 2007 he was awarded the Frank H. Stoll Award of service for his work with the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship and launch of his first business, “Rizzo Public Relations,” a non-profit organization he created to form alliances amongst business leaders, educators and young professionals to foster entrepreneurial thinking and spirit in Charleston.

Rizzo is an active member in the Charleston Young Professionals, a Charleston Chamber of Commerce initiative, which guided him in the purchase of his first home.  He now serves on an innovation advisory board, is steering a networking group on entrepreneurship, and being mentored by local businesses experts to grow personally and professionally

He has a target goal of Spring 2009 for his first published book; a short read which will explain the principles of Authorpreneurship.
